Let me know if you like this style of corrective format as I know that visual aids may explain some corrections better.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is a lot going wrong on left and its actually one of most common mistakes that I see when individuals are performing the exercise. The scapula is not locked down and retracted, also we are using a lot of the shoulders to get our weight up on the rep. There's forced reps of getting the chin over the bar which is not necessary as well, and last but not least (this is not CrossFit) there's the momentum swinging to get ourselves up on the rep.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When permforming a strict pull up, we want to retract the scapula and have it pushed down, this takes away using the shoulders and the arms a bit whenever performing a strict pull up. The weight is not executed in a controlled manner, there's no mind to muscle connection going on and then you see we are compensated with swinging using momentum and involving shoulders into the movement when in fact the exercise is suppose to target our biceps. Of course the half repping, mostly due to using too much weight, is a no-no.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On the right we are using the correct form without momentum and we are controlling the weight and squeezing at the top of each rep. CORRECTIVE CARDIO - QUARANTINE VERSION by @skiman.factual.fitness⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now that I have your attention, in all seriousness this is an important message to send home and to the masses.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you've been following me of late, you have known that I've been out of the gym for a few weeks now.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'll be honest, like some, whenever the Corona visus hit in China around November I didn't take the virus and it's rate of exponential growth as a threat/or serious.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This virus really hit home though and quickly as red flags were raised as it was deadly with the elderly population. My mother fits right in with the demographic being 70 years old, recovering from a hip replacement AND being a diabetic.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The worse part about this virus is that it can be carried around by folks that are asymptomatic carriers. So by going into the gym and public places others could be infected by the virus that may not be so lucky (non-asymptomatic). So please, try and slow down the curve as many of you have probably already seen stated around the globe. Stay home and social distance yourself and your family. On the left we can see that the rep is executed with the elbows flared outwards and inwards, this puts a lot of uncessary strain on the wrists and elbows. CORRECTIVE HAMMER CURL by @skiman.factual.fitness⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Back with another corrective video, in this shot we are visiting the hammer curl exercise.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is a lot going wrong on left and its actually one of most common mistakes that I see when individuals are performing the exercise. The movement is not controlled, basically swinging the weight with lots of momentum and also encompassing the shoulers into what should be a bicep and forearm isolation exercise.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On the right we are using the correct form without momentum, as well as incorporating optimal rest time between reps by doing unison arm movements which reducing momemtum and swinging.
